Description

This experience takes you inside the dormant Thrihnukagigur Volcano near Reykjavik. To go down into the volcano, you first walk about 3km/2 miles across lava fields, an experience in its own right. You then descend into the volcano chamber, which has a total depth of 200m - which means the Statue of Liberty could easily fit inside! The volcano last erupted 4,000 years ago. Iceland's location on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge causes volcanic activity.
