The Sahara is the largest hot desert in the world, crossing at least 10 countries (Morocco, Mauritania, Mali, Algeria, Libya, Niger, Tunisia, Chad, Egypt and Sudan), and the name 'Sahara' is derived from the Arabic word for 'desert'.
