Experience the grand scale of The Dam Square in the heart of Amsterdam, capital of the Netherlands. Building on this site began around 1270 with a dam blocking the river Amstel and providing a connection between settlements either side, and it has been a central location as the city has grown around it ever since. Here we see an escape-artist entertaining a large group of tourists. In the background you see the Royal Palace, the Nieuwe Kerk ('New Church'), shops, restaurants, hotels and the Diamond Centre.
