Khari Baoli is a street in Delhi and home to the largest wholesale spice market in Asia. A market has been operating here since the 17th century. The Khari Baoli had an illustrious past and it was during the time of Shah Jahan that Khari Baoli (literally meaning 'stepped wall') was built. The stepped wall had a fortified gateway on its western end that was called Lahori Gate.
