This experience is a view of the night sky shot from the shore of Lake Eppalock in North Central Victoria, Australia. Located about 130 kilometres (81 miles) northwest of Melbourne, this artificial lake was formed by the construction of the Eppalock Dam in 1964. From this spot you are offered a spectacular view of the night sky, unspoiled by light pollution, in the middle of summer. The sky is so clear here that you can even see a swathe of the Milky Way cutting through the stars – usually an incredibly difficult task for anyone living in, or near to, a major city.
