The "Hotzenwald" is the southernmost part of the Black Forest and is supposedly the remotest and darkest part of the forest. There are many places rich in ancient myths and fairytales. Such a place is "Teufelsküche" (the Devil's Kitchen), a 100 metre long gorge with a fast-flowing stream which runs crammed between large granite boulders. There are several swirl holes in the bed of the stream.
