Description

Zama's city flower is the sunflower. The Sunflower Festival is held from late July through August, where more than half a million sunflowers bloom and displayed at various locations in Zama, Japan. The festival boasts 30 types of sunflowers from around the world. Some of the plants grow as tall as 1.5 metres (5 feet) with huge flower heads that could grow as big as a dinner plate. Visitors can sample sunflower pasta, crackers and beverages. This is fun for the whole family and a community event not to be missed.
