In this experience several sakura trees, with a lot of the flowers having already fallen off, line the major paths inside Aoyama Cemetery, Tokyo. Japan has a long history of celebrating the beautiful cherry blossoms which appear from January to April, with the centuries-old practice of drinking under a blooming sakura (cherry blossom) tree being said to have gained popularity during the Heian period (794–1185), and many people taking part in flower-viewing parties today.
