Description

This particularly important volcanic eruption began on 2 April 2007 and lasted one month. A massive 130 million cubic-meters of lava ran out between the eruptive crack in the volcano at 590 meters above sea level, at a thickness sometimes exceeding 60 meters. The heat and the acid rains destroyed any vegetation around the site on Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean.
