The Ijen volcano complex is a group of stratovolcanoes inside a larger caldera Ijen, which is about 20 kilometers wide. Several hundred men work in the heart of the volcano to extract yellow lumps of sulphur, which is used to create fertiliser and matches. The job is very dangerous; breathing in toxic fumes shortens the lives of those who work there.
