Description

Often called "rainforests of the sea", shallow coral reefs form some of the most diverse ecosystems on Earth. They occupy less than 0.1% of the world's ocean surface, about half the area of France, yet they provide a home for at least 25% of all marine species.

In this 360 video you can watch schools of bright yellow fish swimming around one such shallow coral reef, with the reef towering behind you can see the fish surrounding you and darting between the polyps and towers.

Coral reefs are incredibly fragile ecosystems that are incredibly sensitive to water temperature. Because of this they are under threat from climate change, water pollution and oceanic acidification.

Total video duration is 1 minute and 30 seconds.
