Description

Held every year before Lent, the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro is widely considered the biggest carnival in the world, with up to two million people per day dancing and singing on the streets. The festival dates all the way back to 1723 when it was a time to celebrate in honour of the gods and to pay respect to the 'great waters.'
