The Four Seasons

Visit the Avantis World garden and observe a tree during a year-long cycle of four different seasons. The tilted axis of the Earth means that for part of the year the Earth is tilted with the Northern Hemisphere towards to the Sun, experiencing more hours of daylight every 24-hour rotation, and the Southern Hemisphere is tilted away from the Sun. Then six months later the seasons have changed; the North is now tilted away from the Sun and experiences fewer hours of daylight, and the South is tilted towards the Sun. Student will be able to explore the garden and learn how this tilt effects the environment.

# Spring{.objective .objective1}

In this section the weather is transitioning from the cold, stormy winter towards the warm, light summer days. Students are asked to enter the scene to discover how insects are attracted to flowers in spring.

# Summer{.objective .objective2}

The summertime is characterised by long hours of daylight, and warm or hot temperatures. In this activity students will analyse what a tree may look like in the summer.

# Autumn{.objective .objective3}

Autumn can be seen as season of great change. Your students can discover how the ground can appear in autumn.

# Winter{.objective .objective4}

In this section there is less daylight and more hours of darkness. In this activity students are asked to observe how an environment responds to winter conditions.
