Recycling Plant

This scene is set in a fictional recycling plant where students can see both glass and plastic going through the recycling process each type of recycling has a separate section that can be entered through the doors in the main scene.

- Glass - bottles are poured from a recycling bin onto a conveyor belt where they move into a hopper to be crushed down, through to a furnace to be melted and into mould to make new bottles.
- Plastic - plastics are sorted and shredded, melted and then extruded into pellets

# Glass{.objective .objective1}

This section details how glass jars and bottles are an important part of the recycling process as they can be reused many times - almost 70% of glass packaging in the UK is recycled. Students should explore the scene to gain a better understanding of the process and I ask what each machine does.

# Plastic{.objective .objective2}

Students look at both the advantages and the problems of recycling plastic as well as the issues with single use plastics around the world. The process of recycling plastic is more complex than that of glass students are asked to compare the two.
