Plastic Recycling

by Avantis World
This resource is only available as part of a pack

Description

Step inside a huge plastic recycling facility and see the different stages the material travels through whilst being recycled.

Different types of plastics are used in a huge range of different products. Recycling plastics can be a complex process, and slightly different for different plastic types. Most begin with a sorting of the material so that the same type is grouped together and any other debris in the mix is discarded. The plastic is then shredded into smaller pieces, melted, and then extruded into a uniform size and shape, such as plastic pellets, ready to be sold on to industry for reuse.
