Desert Biome

This scene takes the form of a desert biome. Desert biomes cover around 1/5th of the surface of
our planet and are typically very hot and dry. Very few people can live and survive in a desert environment; however, thanks to Avantis World, you can now explore this beautiful but dangerous world.

# Unique features of desert biomes{.objective .objective1}

The first section of the scene describes the unique features of desert biomes and details the four main types: hot and dry, semi-arid, coastal and cold deserts. In this activity students asked to explore the scene and to consider what type of desert they can see, how much rain may fall in a desert and what do they think the temperature would be like?

# Famous deserts{.objective .objective2}

This section of the scene provides a description of famous deserts in the world (Sahara, Mojave desert, the Atacama desert). In this activity students are asked to enter the scene to identify any similarities and differences between the desert they are in and the Sahara, Mojave and Atacama deserts.
