Puss In Boots

This scene depicts some of the key locations from the traditional tale Puss in Boots; the simple windmill where the cat and owner live at the start of the story, the river where the owner swims and the King and Princess see them from the royal carriage, and finally the palace belonging to a wizard who Puss in Boots tricks to claim the palace as their own.

# Life in the Windmill{.objective .objective1}

A family live in poverty in a windmill, and when their father dies the youngest brother inherits a cat. The cat asks for a pair of boots and then begins to transform their lives. Students are asked to enter the scene and explore the windmill and the area around it, looking for where Puss has been catching rabbits.

# Tricking the King{.objective .objective2}

Puss asks his owner to swim in a river, and when the King and Princess pass by in their royal carriage he shouts for help. They stop, and Puss says his owner’s clothes have been stolen, so the King lends him some luxurious clothing. Students will be encouraged to explore the river and the royal carriage.

# Life in the Royal Palace{.objective .objective3}

Puss in Boots has one final trick – he goes to a palace owned by a wizard, tricks the wizard into turning into a mouse, and then catches him, taking claim of the palace as belonging to him and his owner. The King and Princess are impressed and agree to a marriage between the princess and the cat’s owner, and the cat lives an easy life from there! Students should find the palace and consider how life has changed for Puss in Boots and his owner through the story.
