The main reason, the ideologies surrounding slavery were being redefined and challenged, which led to many political disagreements between the different areas in the USA. Discussions surrounding the ideologies of the time should take place and students will learn about the reasons it led to a conflict.

In this section key battles and events during the war will be described, such as the battle at Fort Sumter and the Emancipation Proclamation. Taking a closer look at the scene, students will identify various equipment used during the Civil War, and the significance of the location the battle took place.
