Life in the Tudor Period

This scene takes the form of a reconstructed town in the Tudor Period. Students can freely explore the town to learn about different elements of life for the mass of society during the Tudor Period. There are houses and streets that can be explored to help your students learn about how people lived.

# What was Housing like in the Tudor Period? {.objective .objective1}

Explore the Tudor Town to learn about how people lived in the Tudor period. Take a walk inside a Tudor House and learn about its key features. Students will be able to explain the materials that were used to construct a house and why they were built in a certain way.

# What did the Tudors eat? {.objective .objective2}

During the Tudor period, there was a distinctive difference between the food people consumed based on their social status. Here students will be able to see different items that people had access to and consider if the Tudor Period diet was healthy.

# How did the Tudors dress? {.objective .objective3}

The Tudors very much liked to reflect their status through their belonging; including their clothes. Here students can look at portraits of Kings and Queens and begin to understand how someone’s fashion reflected their wealth.

# What jobs were available in the Tudor Period? {.objective .objective3}

In this section student can learn about the jobs that were available in the Tudor Period and how jobs were based upon the class system that existed during the time. Students should be able to understand how most men were the breadwinners and how women were expected to be at home.
