# PROPERTIES OF PHAGOCYTES AND LYMPHOCYTES{.objective .objective1}
In this section, the main characteristics of white blood cells and pathogens will be outlined. The function of phagocytes and lymphocytes, and how they are adapted to their function will be described. Phagocytes are responsible for engulfing pathogens, while lymphocytes are responsible for producing antibodies specific to a pathogen’s antigens.
# WHAT HAPPENS DURING AN IMMUNE RESPONSE?{.objective .objective2}
In this section, exploring the scene, an immune response from both types of white blood cells can be observed. Students will be able to discuss what they see and identify which cells are phagocytes and lymphocytes based on their activity.
# HOW DO WE BUILD IMMUNITY?{.objective .objective3}
In this section, immunity will be described, and how exposure to pathogens, their triggering of an initial response leads to immunity. Immunity can be described as white blood cells being able to detect and recognise specific antigens and producing antibodies quickly and in larger amounts compared to a primary immune response.
