Description

The scene lets students explore and compare an urban area to rural areas. Students will learn about urbanisation, the reasons for migration into urban areas and the consequences of urbanisation. Students will be able to link development, population and migration to urbanisation and understand how people respond to changes in development in a city.

# Urbanisation{.objective .objective1}

Students will learn about urbanisation and how job opportunities affect migration. They will learn how urbanisation affects density and distribution of populations. They will compare the difference in development between the rural and urban area.

# Effects of Urbanisation{.objective .objective2}

In this section students will learn about the effect of urbanisation. They will learn how increased migration into a built-up area can impact services and job availability and traffic congestion. Students will be asked to explore the scene and observe the difference in traffic between rural and urban areas and consider why there would be a difference.

# Consequences of Urbanisation{.objective .objective3}

Students will learn about the impact of changing industries within urban areas. Students will learn about the rise in inequality due to a difference in wealth within an urban area. They will consider the organisation of rural and urban areas and asked to reflect on the impact this may have on services, like waste management, education, housing provisions, health care etc.
