Description

The scene lets students explore and compare different types of settlements. Inside the scene, students will have an aerial view of a landscape with various types of settlements and how they are networked by roads. Students can observe and compare the settlements within their view and compare the key differences between them in terms of size, location and development.

# Learning objectives

# Settlements{.objective .objective1}

Students will learn about the types of settlements and compare them to each other. Students will be asked to identify the types of settlements based on the information provided and provide evidence for their decision.

# Development{.objective .objective2}

Students will learn about how settlements developed and changed over time. They will be asked to explore the scene and observe the networking of larger developed settlements. They will be asked how these road networks make desired locations accessible in a supply chain.

# Impact on Population{.objective .objective3}

Students will learn about the impact a change in population and traffic would have on settlements of different size. They will learn how smaller settlements experience greater pressure on services due to immigration as services are limited. Students will be asked to explore the scene and think about why some settlements are favoured by people migrating. Why would retiring workers and professionals move to smaller settlements outside the city?
