The scene lets students explore the upper environment of Mount Everest. Set on the final camp site used before ‘Summit Day’ by climbers and the peak itself, here students will get a sense of what it takes to prepare for the final climb to the peak of Mount Everest, the dangers climbers face and the equipment needed to survive the perils of the climb.

# How is Mount Everest Formed?{.objective .objective1}

Students will learn about the different ways mountains are formed and how that leads to the formation of the Himalayan Mountain range of which Everest is part of. Students will be asked to explore the scene and look for clues that Everest was formed by tectonic plates pushing together and upwards. They will be asked to consider what conditions explorers would have to deal with if they climbed Everest.

# Exploring Mount Everest{.objective .objective2}

Students will learn about the environment and conditions on Everest. They will be asked to explore and identify clues that climbers deal with extreme conditions. They will be asked to identify the kit needed for the different conditions on the mountain.

# The Perils of Climbing Everest{.objective .objective3}

Students will learn about the dangers of climbing Mount Everest. They will learn about altitude sickness and the effects of lack of oxygen, as well as the dangers created by the terrain and weather. They will explore the scene and identify the dangers climbers face on ‘Summit Day’ as well as the rest of the journey.
