The Periodic Table

The scene lets students explore the periodic table and learn about the organisation of the elements in their various groups. They will explore the variety of elements, compare their properties between groups and how their atomic numbers affect their electron arrangement and therefore their reactivity.

# Learning objectives

1: Be able to describe the organisation of the periodic table.{.info}

2: Be able to describe the properties of metals and non-metals{.info}

# Metals{.objective .objective1}

In this section, a description of the properties of metals will be described. Metals are described as strong, tough, shiny, silvery in colour, and along with their atomic structure they are grouped together on the periodic table.

# Non-Metals{.objective .objective2}

In this section, a description of the properties of non-metals will be outlined. From, dull in colour to brittle, and can be solid, liquid or gas, allows them to be grouped together along with the properties of their atomic structure.

# Halogen and Noble{.objective .objective3}

In this section, halogens and noble gases will be described. By gaining a single electrons, halogens form stable structures by reacting with metals and forming salts. As for noble gases, these inert gases occupy their own group on the periodic table.
