The Renaissance is the term used to define the period in European History from the Middle Ages to the Early Modern Period. From the fourteenth to the seventeenth century, Europe experienced a ‘rebirth’ in its cultural, scientific, philosophical, and economic worlds. In this scene students can explore an artist’s workshop to learn about how art developed throughout the Renaissance period.

In this section students can learn about how the Renaissance began in Florence, Italy and spread across Europe. Students are asked to describe the architecture in Florence and find out about which shapes, and colours were popular in Renaissance architecture.

In this section students can learn about perspective and different art forms. In this section students are asked to identify resources that were used to create paint and which art forms were created inside the workshop.
