Farming – Fields of England

The scene lets students explore farming in England and observe how certain conditions can affect crop growth. Students will explore and learn about how soil types, landscapes and weather can influence crops and how farmers manage land to get the best yield possible.

# Good Farming Practice{.objective .objective1}

Students will learn about the practices that farmers follow to ensure efficient crop growth. Students will be asked to explore the scene and identify the field that has managed and has the best conditions for crop yield. They will be asked to indicate the clues that they used to identify the field that shows best farming practice.

# Lay of the Land{.objective .objective2}

Students will learn about effect landscapes have on crop growth. Students will be asked to explore the scene and identify the fields with too much or too little drainage. They will be asked to describe evidence of the effect of drainage issues on a field and crop growth.

# Water Availability{.objective .objective3}

Students will learn about the reliance of farmers on the weather for water availability and crop growth. Students will be asked to explore the scene and identify the field that has been exposed to weather extremes outside the typical. They will be asked to describe the evidence suggesting an extreme weather condition and the effect on crop yield.
