Ukraine

The scene lets students explore a series of maps that illustrate and model Ukraine’s landscape, distribution of natural resources and network of pipelines. Students will develop and insight of the geopolitical importance of Ukraine as a primary industry and a major part of the European supply chain.

# Ukraine{.objective .objective1}

Students will learn about the landscape of Ukraine. They will learn about the importance of its location and how it has been of interest by surrounding countries through history, leading to Ukraine being invaded and ruled by different countries through the ages. Students will be asked to consider reasons why neighbouring countries may disagree with other countries building close relationships with Ukraine.

# Goods and Resources{.objective .objective2}

Students will learn about Ukraine being a major primary industry in Europe. They will explore the scene and consider how the extensive network of flights helps the supply chain. They will be asked to look for clues that Ukraine is a major primary industry.

# Pipelines{.objective .objective3}

Students will learn about the extensive oil and gas pipeline running through Ukraine from Russia. They will be encouraged to consider why Russia may feel protective about the pipelines despite them being controlled by Ukraine. They will be asked to look for clues that indicate the reasons for Russia’s desire to protect the pipelines that have led to geopolitical tension between the two countries.
