The scene lets students explore a nuclear fusion reactor and how energy is generated. The simulation will model how hydrogen is made to join to form helium and radiate energy within a reactor that is designed to mimic the conditions in the Sun, but on a much smaller scale.

# Nuclear Fusion – The Process{.objective .objective1}

Students will learn about the process involved in nuclear fusion. Students will be asked to explore the scene and identify that the nucleus of helium is larger indicating a larger mass.

# The Challenge of Generating Energy{.objective .objective2}

Students will learn about the challenges posed by nuclear fusion. Students will be asked to explore the scene and suggest how they can tell that the nuclear reactor on Earth produces a smaller amount of energy compared to the Sun.

# Potential for Limitless Energy{.objective .objective3}

Students will learn about the potential of using nuclear fusion as an alternative energy source. They will learn that the products are environmentally friendly and does not contribute to climate change and do not pollute. Students will learn that the process can potentially generate vast amount of energy from a small amount of water as a source of hydrogen. Students will be asked to explore the scene and use their knowledge of atoms to describe how they can tell that helium is produced in the process of nuclear fusion.
