Description

The scene lets students explore and familiarise themselves with the setup, parts and process of cement production. They will explore the cement works and observe the raw materials being crushed, mixed, and heated in the production of clinker that is then ground to make cement. Students will also observe the production of carbon dioxide as a pollutant.

# Cement Works Plant{.objective .objective1}

Students will learn about the workings of a cement works plant. Students will be asked to explore the scene and identify the parts of a cement works plant. They will be asked to consider why it is built near the quarry where raw materials are extracted.

# Making Cement{.objective .objective2}

Students will learn about the process used to make cement and how cement is used to make concrete by adding aggregate. Students will be asked to explore the scene and identify the changes in the raw materials as they pass the grinder and crusher. They will be asked to identify where the raw materials are heated and burned to make cement.

# Impact of Using Cement{.objective .objective3}

Students will learn about the impact of cement production on the environment. They will learn about the part of the process that leads to greenhouse gas emissions, and the strategies used and planned to reduce the polluting effect of cement production. Students will be asked to explore the scene and identify the part of the process that emit carbon dioxide.
