Description

The scene lets students explore two different households that represent a more developed country and less developed country. By observing the two areas and the foods presented in each area, students will be able to evaluate the difference in food security. Through this comparison, student will learn about the causes in changes in food security, the impact of wealth and globalisation on the distribution of food and its availability.

# Food Security{.objective .objective1}

Students will learn about food security and the impact of population growth on food demand. Students will be asked to consider the possible reasons for the uneven distribution.

# Farming Techniques{.objective .objective2}

Students will learn about the range of techniques used by the farming industry to increase
production of food, in its attempt to make food security sustainable. Students will be asked to explore the scene and identify which household represents a more developed country. They will be asked identify clues for the greater wealth in that household.

# Impact of Globalisation{.objective .objective3}

Students will learn about the impact of globalisation on the food prices and food security in less develop countries. They will learn that the globalised trade of food and the export of local foods to the rest of the world, has reduced the availability for people in the country that food is produced. Students will be asked to explore the scene and identify the household from a less developed country. They will be asked to identify clues that suggest that food availability is reduced in this household, in comparison to the wealthier household.

Students will also be able to explore the Inside a Food Bank scene to contextualise what happens when people don't have food security and where they might go for support.
