Temperate Woodland Biome

The scene lets students explore a temperate woodland biome and learn about the environment and climate typical of a woodland. Students will explore and observe the varied wildlife and plants that can be found in a temperate woodland and how the stable conditions are ideal for their survival, even though the biome experiences seasonal changes.

# Woodland Biome{.objective .objective1}

Students will learn about what a woodland biome is. They will learn about the typical climate within a temperate woodland, the living things that make up the woodland and the wildlife that can be found in it. Students will be asked to explore the scene and observe the wildlife and other living things in the woodland. They will be asked to think about why a woodland is ideal for the wildlife found there.

# The Features of a Temperate Biome{.objective .objective2}

Students will learn about the characteristics of a temperate woodland biome. They will learn that temperate biomes are between the tropics and polar regions and are subject to seasonal climate changes. They will learn that within these seasonal changes, a woodland will experience a change in conditions, but not as extreme as an open environment. Students will learn how livings things respond to seasonal changes, such as deciduous trees shedding leaves and lying dormant, as well as animals hibernating or migrating.
