The scene lets students explore an example of a typical high street with various activities and businesses that make up the gig economy. The various models will show a variety of employment opportunities or ‘’gigs’’ that are short term and non-permanent jobs. By exploring these, students will develop an understanding of what can make up a gig economy and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the structure of the gig economy.

# What is a Gig Economy?{.objective .objective1}

Students will learn that ‘’gigs’’ are non-permanent jobs dictated by availability of work, offering a flexibility of working hours for the worker. Students will be asked to think about how the type of gigs may affect the time the jobs need completing, and employment required to do so.

# The advantages of a Gig Economy{.objective .objective2}

Students will learn about benefits of working in a gig economy. Students will be asked to explore them scene and identify what type of workers would be needed to complete the ‘’gigs’’. They will be asked to think about what could lead to the employment short term or non-permanent, providing flexibility for workers and the employer.

# The drawbacks of a Gig Economy{.objective .objective3}

Students will learn about the lack of job security, the lack of sick pay and the lack of holiday pay, which make up some of the basic rights of employment. Students will be asked to explore the scene and think about what could lead to termination of employment. They will be asked to think about what would make employers terminate employment.
