**Scene Overview and Key Elements:**

Salt mines have existed in Romania since 1075 with salt considered the country’s richest mineral deposit. Whilst some mines are still operational, others have been turned into tourist attractions offering a range of recreational activities and medicinal benefits.

This scene allows students to explore a salt mine and learn about salt mining and the modern uses of some of the Romanian salt mines.
