Description

Fisheries refer to the commercial and non-commercial activities related to the catching, processing, and selling of fish and other aquatic animals. This includes fishing, aquaculture (controlled cultivation), and processing and distribution of seafood products.

This scene allows students to explore a fish farm and a fish processing plant to discover how fish are farmed and processed into products that can be distributed and exported. They will discover the importance of sustainable farming practices and the impact climate change is having on farmed fisheries.

# Types of fish farming{.objective .objective1}



In this section students can learn about some of the different methods of farming fish and the types of fish these are suited to.

Students will be asked to explore the scene and identify the type of farming method used and the fish species that is being farmed here.



# Aquaculture in Poland and Sustainable Practices{.objective .objective2}



In this section the tradition of aquaculture in Poland will be described. Students will be introduced to some of the sustainable practices used in farmed fisheries and understand the impact that climate change is having on the farmers.

Students will be asked to find evidence of monitoring activity around the ponds in the scene.



# Processing and Export{.objective .objective3}



Students can learn about the importance of the fish processing industry in Poland and the types of products which are produced here.

Students will be encouraged to explore the fish processing facility and asked to identify the products being produced and locate the countries on the map where they will be exported.
