War of the Roses

The Wars of the Roses were a series of wars that took place between 1455-1487. These wars were fought between two branches of the House of Plantagenet: Lancaster and York. The wars were fought over the control of the English throne in the fifteenth century. In this scene students can explore the Battle of Bosworth Hill and learn all about how the Wars were caused, who fought them and their lasting impact!

 Here, students can learn about the complex web of political and social factors that led to the Wars of the Roses.

Students should explore the scene and try to identify the two families that fought in the war.


# What happened during the Wars of the Roses? {.objective .objective2} 


The Wars can be divided into three sections which the students can learn about in detail.

Students can explore the scene and learn about which types of weaponry were used throughout the wars on each side.



# What was the impact of the Wars of the Roses? {.objective .objective3} 

The Wars had a huge impact across England. Students can learn about how there were developments in the military as well as political centralisation.

Students should walk around the scene and consider how a new dynasty would affect how everyday people lived.
