Description

**Key Elements and scene Summary**

The scene is inspired by a bank vault where money is typically kept safe. Here you will be able to explore and model a range of coins and notes from Europe, the Euro. From the cent coins to the Euro coins and notes, here students will be able to see models of the various monetary units and learn to recognise them. By interacting with the coins and notes, they can challenge themselves to put them in order of value, from lowest to highest.

# Learning objectives

1. Recognise the Euro coins and their value{.info}
2. Recognise the Euro notes and their value{.info}

This scene is linked to the counting money scene, where students can make up values by combining coins and notes.

# Coins{.objective .objective1}

- By exploring the vault, students can see the models of the Euro coins. By pointing out their appearance, discuss what they look like and compare them to each other.
- Encourage students to observe and describe the coin models in the vault. They could be asked to look for clues on the coins that would help them recognise them too.

# Notes{.objective .objective2}

- As students continue to explore the vault, they’ll be able to observe the Euro notes. They will see how they are thin, broad and made of paper. A teacher-led discussion should encourage students to notice the different colours between the notes.
- Encourage students to observe and describe the Euro notes models in the vault. They could be asked to look for clues on the notes that would help them recognise the too.

# Value{.objective .objective3}

- Introduce the concept of each coin and note having a value. However, coins and notes can be combined to make up different values. This should include that there are 100c in each €1 value.
- Students should explore the models a final time and attempt to put the coins and notes in value order.
