Wikipedia for Schools is a hand-checked, non-commercial selection from Wikipedia, the world's most popular encyclopedia, targeted around the UK National Curriculum and useful for much of the English speaking world. It has about 5,500 articles (as much as can be fitted on a DVD with good size images) and is about the size of a twenty volume encyclopaedia (34,000 images and 20 million words).

This project is a collaboration between Wikimedia Foundation and SOS Children.

As these articles have been selected directly from Wikipedia, the reading difficulty level is aimed at adults and should be readable by older children.
