Venus (Explorable Scene)

by Avantis Lesson Plans
This resource is only available as part of a pack

Description

This Explorable Scene transports students to the surface of planet Venus. Venus is named after the Roman goddess of
love and beauty, suggesting early astronomers probably didn’t realise what a turbulent and inhospitable world this really
is! From a distance Venus is beautiful; after the Moon it’s the brightest natural object in the night sky, and with an orbit
closer to the Sun than Earth’s it is most visible at dusk or dawn, a recognisable object to many cultures and civilizations
since ancient times and sometimes known as the morning star and evening star.

This supporting document provides three focus points, which teachers may want to use to scaffold and guide their students through this experience. The second page outlines how teachers can use this explorable scene in geography, science, literacy and mathematics.
