This scene takes the form of a reconstructed Renaissance castle. Inside the castle, there are three rooms which can be explored: The great hall, a bedroom, and a theatre to provide students with a range of information about the characters, plot and setting of the play. Furthermore, students are able to explore this setting to help them recall the important themes that can be taken from the play including: The mystery of death, certainty and doubt and performance
# Learning objectives
1: To describe how Hamlet was murdered by his brother{.info}
2: To understand the key characters of the play{.info}
3: To explain the significance of the theatre room in the castle{.info}
# The Mystery of Death{.objective .objective1}
In this section students can investigate how King Hamlet was murdered by his brother and how Hamlet discovers this betrayal. Students are asked to identify any items that were used to murder King Hamlet.
# Certainty and Doubt{.objective .objective2}
In this section students can learn that the characters within the play of Hamlet can be understood to be complex characters who are portrayed in numerous different ways. In this activity students can look for location where the ghost first appeared in the castle.
# Performance{.objective .objective3}
In this section students will explore the theatre room inside the castle and consider its importance with regards to the death of certain characters. Students are asked to look for any items that were used as a weapon in a fight.
