The Sun – Our Star

The scene lets students explore the structure of the Sun. Exploring the Sun from space, students will be able to see the inner and outer layers of the Sun and how energy is generated and transferred to the surface.

# Anatomy of the Sun{.objective .objective1}

In this section, a description of the structure of the sun will be provided. Each layer will be described and the main properties outlined.

# Burning Ball of Gas{.objective .objective2}

In this section, the sun will be described as a giant nuclear reactor. Energy generation begins in the core and radiates its way to the surface through the layers. Eventually the energy is emitted into space from the chromosphere and corona.

# Energy and Life{.objective .objective3}

In this section, the importance of the sun to life on earth will be explained. The link to photosynthesis and food production will be outlined as well as the need to regulate the temperature to sustain life on earth.
