In this scene, two human figures in a 19th century lab, which show the pancreas and liver only can be explored. While observing the two figures it should be possible to identify the similarities and differences between them, in terms of blood glucose regulation. The first figure will be of a person who does not have diabetes. There liver and pancreas will be functioning well. The second figure will be of a person who is diabetic and takes insulin to control their blood sugar.

# The Story of insulin’s Discovery{.objective .objective1}
In this section, the discovery of pancrein by scientist Nicolae Paulescu will be outlined. His work in the extraction of pancrein to observe its effect on mammals will be described.
# The Scientific Process{.objective .objective2}
In this section, the two types of diabetes will be described. While Type 1 is a congenital condition, which is the inability to produce insulin and therefore control blood glucose levels, Type 2 is a resistance to insulin caused by years of obesity and having a constantly high blood glucose level. These will be compared to a healthy person to model what should happen when insulin is secreted in the attempt to regulate blood glucose levels.
# The Historical Impact{.objective .objective3}
In this section, the impact of the discovery of insulin will be described. Knowledge and understanding of insulin as a hormone, and its role in regulating blood glucose levels; its isolation meant that those suffering from diabetes could be treated. As such, the medical advancement meant diabetic people survived to live longer.
