# What Are Magnets?{.objective .objective1}

In this section, a description of magnets will be provided; as objects that have a magnetic field and produce a force that can pull and push other magnets. Students will observe the magnetic device and the magnetic field. They will draw a conclusion from a discussion that the magnet is pulling objects to it from the ground.

# Electromagnets{.objective .objective2}

In this section, a description of an electromagnet will be provided; devices that have an electric current running through it will have a magnetic field. If the wire is coiled into a smaller space, the magnetic field can be amplified to create a greater magnetic force.

# Controlling Electromagnets{.objective .objective3}

In this section, a description of how electromagnets can be controlled will be provided. Electromagnets rely on an electric current and can be turned on and off. The strength of the magnetic force can be altered by changing the voltage, changing the number of coils, and inserting a magnetic material at the core of the coiled wire.
