These Crow Nation style teepees were temporarily set up on the rim rocks on the north edge of Billings, Mt for part of the month of December, 2020. Per an article in the Billings Gazette William Snell, the director of the teepee project, is quoted: “The intent behind it is to put them up as a symbol or a reminder of the struggle that people are going through,” said Snell. “In many ways, the pandemic that is occurring, it’s affected all people, all generations.” The project was organized by the Rocky Mountain Tribal Leaders Council and the Pretty Shield Foundation.
