*Electroblemma bifida* is an armored spider preserved in 99-million-year-old amber from the Cretaceous period, found in Myanmar. This specimen has numerous bubbles in the amber, obscuring parts of it, but its distinct long projection with two horns, the feature that gives the species its name, is clearly visible. The projection likely once held the animal's eyes. In this male specimen, the pedipalps extend beyond the chelicerae and contain intricate structures used for transferring sperm to the female during mating. Armored spiders of the family Tetrablemmidae are characterized by a hard cuticle, which is impervious to spider wasps. These wasps typically hunt spiders to lay their eggs inside them, but the durable exoskeleton's of tetrablemmids protect them from such parasites.
