Lystrosaurus was a medium-sized to larger therapsid, maximaly 2,5 meters long with the weight less than 100kg. It has been recorded in India, Antarctica, China, Mongolia and European part of Russia. The geographic distribution of Lystrosaurus is one of the oldest direct evidences of the plate tectonics ‒ continental drift in geologic time. The absence of teeth, except the two marked upper canines, is typical. The mouth is ended by a beak-like structure. Extremities as well as tail are short and massive.
