Description

A widespread foliage taxon of Sphenobaiera with possible affinities in the ginkgophytes extends from the Early Permian well into the Cretaceous. Leaves are highly dissected, wedgeshaped with dichotomous venation and lack a distinct petiole. One of the better known species is S. longifolia from the Middle Jurassic of England characterised by at least 13 cm long leaves divided four times into narrow ultimate segments.
