Stegosaurus belongs to herbivorous ornithischian dinosaurs. The length of adult animal was 9‒10 metres, height 4 meters (including dorsal plates), the weight exceeded almost 3‒5 tons. The skull is extremely small as well as the brain. Teeth are diminutive, adapted to plant food. The dorsal part is covered by plates used as a protection but rather a thermoregulation organ, and/or as a feature of the sexual dimorphism. The tail possesses two pairs of spikes with defence function. Frontal limbs are significantly shorter than posteroior ones. Stegosaurus lived in the Upper Jurassic (150‒145 Ma) in the Nothern America and Europe.
