Plesiosaurus

by STEAM3D

Description

Plesiosaurus belongs to a group of small to medium-sized plesiosaurs, with lengths ranging from two to four meters. This genus is distinguished by its long neck, small head, and characteristic slender, conical teeth. Fossil evidence has shown the presence of gastroliths (stones used to aid in food grinding) within the stomach contents of some specimens. The limbs of plesiosaurus are highly adapted, forming four large, powerful paddles, while the tail is relatively short and robust. This genus inhabited the seas of Europe during the Lower Jurassic period, approximately 200 to 176 million years ago. ## Keywords Mesozoic, Lower Jurassis, marine reptiles, Sauropterygia, plesiosaurs, Plesiosauridae
