Watznaueria barnesae is an extinct Jurassic species of Coccolithophyceae that represents unicellular, eukaryotic phytoplankton (alga). Coccolithophyceae are distinguished by special calcium carbonate plates (scales) called coccoliths that built rounded scelet (coccosphere). W. barnesae is marine, rock-forming element and found in large numbers throughout the sunlight zone of the ocean.
