Cronopio is a small (20‒30 cm) Late Cretaceous mammal living in Argentina 100‒96 Ma. Only the animal's skull is known to us at this time. It shows morphological features typical for ancient mammals. Molars are squirrel-like, but the function of long canines is not known. Large eye sockets suggest nocturnal activity. Their prey was probably insects. ## Keywords Mesozoic, Late Cretaceous, mammals, Dryolestoidea
