Description

Cronopio is a small (20‒30 cm) Late Cretaceous mammal living in Argentina 100‒96 Ma. Only the animal's skull is known to the present time. It shows morphological features typical for ancient mammals. Molars are squirrel-like, but the function of long canines is not known. Large orbits suggest a nocturnal habitat. Their prey was probably insect.
